Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge or “Place of the Rock” offers unparalleled comfort, in a malaria free area, less than two hours from Johannesburg.

Kwa Maritane Lodge is a family-friendly bush lodge located within the rich expanses of the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park on the slopes of a 2-billion-year-old volcano and is home to Africa’s big five.

Kwa Maritane offers ample opportunity to relax. Two swimming pools and a spa are the perfect way to de-stress from city life. Those, who want to exert themselves can take on the climbing wall and a playground is provided for the younger safari goers.

Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge has 90 luxury rooms, consisting of 54 rooms with twin beds and 36 rooms with double beds.

Studio Twin Room

All standard twin rooms have two double beds, air conditioning, bathrooms with separate bath and shower, DStv limited bouquet, direct-dial telephones, electric shaving plugs, tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, international multi plugs and electronic safes. A minibar is also available and stocked on request.

Studio Double Room

All standard Queen rooms have two Queen size beds, air conditioning, bathrooms with separate baths and showers, DStv limited bouquet, direct dial telephones, electric shaving plugs, tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, international multi plugs and electronic safes. A minibar is also available and stocked on request.

Executive Studio Room

All standard King rooms have two double beds, air conditioning, bathrooms with a separate bath and shower, DStv limited bouquet, direct dial telephones, electric shaving plugs, tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, international multi plugs, and electronic safes. A minibar is also available and stocked on request.

Executive King Studio Room

All Luxury King rooms have one King size bed, air conditioning, bathrooms with separate bath and shower, lounge area with couch, DStv bouquet, direct dial telephones, electric shaving plugs, upgraded tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, international multi plugs and electronic safes. A minibar is also available and stocked on request.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner in The Kwa Lefikeng Restaurant, overlooking "The Rock", the waterhole, and the magnificent granite formations within the park. Our selected buffets and carvery dinners will leave you spoilt for choice as you sample on delicious, traditionally South African fare. A Fisherman's Catch seafood evening takes place every Friday, with a traditional lamb on the spit for Sunday lunch.

Boma Dinner

Every Wednesday and Saturday we offer you the chance to dine in the big boma under the brilliance of the African stars - an indescribable plethora of universal magic. Enjoy the outdoor bush braai area where you can savour some of the best South African cuisine and dine to the sound of traditional entertainment. For more intimate occasions, make use of our small boma which seats up to 25 people. The perfect location for a private dinner, wedding reception or gathering with friends and family.

Game Drives

View Africa’s most impressive wildlife on morning and afternoon/ evening game drives in a 25 seater open truck safari vehicle with expert guides. The Pilanesberg is situated in the transition zone between the Kalahari and Lowveld, making it exceptional for spotting all kinds of wildlife. The ecology of the national park is unlike any other in the country, and almost every animal native to South Africa is found here.

One game drive is included in the rate but you can book a second game drive per day at an extra cost of R450 per adult. Game drives last approximately 3 hours, depending on weather conditions and animal sightings in the park.

Facilities at Bakubung Bush Lodge

Wildlife Centre & Museum. Visit the Wildlife Centre & Museum to see snakes in enclosures as well as displays of animal skulls and droppings. You can make your bookings for the game activities at this centre as well.
Swimming Pools, Kwa Maritane has two large swimming pools
Climbing Wall: An adventurous rock climbing experience is available for adults and mature children.
Game Drives & Game Walks: Daily morning and afternoon game drives are available at the lodge.Daily tree, bird and game walks are available in the morning, with ranging fitness level requirements.
Junior Rangers Program is available for all children aged 6-12 years. Activities are geared around natural resource protection, environmental education and responsible recreation offering a special opportunity to explore the Pilanesberg National Park. The Junior Rangers Program is available at a small additional cost to parents and usually takes 2 days to complete. On completion of the program, children will be including in a graduation ceremony and will be given a certificate and badges for activities completed.

A Minimum stay of 2 nights over a weekend is required.

The animal hide is an amazing place to sit in silenc and see what animals come to drink. Great place for photographs.
