HARLEY ON SAFARI - The Diamond Tour

Embark on the safari of a lifetime. For the “Adrenalin Junkie” who prefers to travel on the back of the world’s most sought-after bike, wind whipping through the hair – this is the perfect journey.

Combining a collection of South Africa’s finest properties, this tour is for the client who seeks the very best of the best.

Day One

The trip commences at Oliver Tambo International Airport. Guests are met by a representative from the Saxon Hotel for their 40 minute transfer.

The Saxon Hotel and Spa has 24 suites of various sizes, twenty of which are Egoli Suites and three are Presidential Suites and feature separate dining and lounge areas, designed to meet the most discerning tastes.

The Saxon Hotel and Spa is located in the tranquil suburb of Sandhurst with its tree-lined avenues, close to Sandton, Johannesburg’s up market business area.

The piece de resistance, however, is the recently unveiled Saxon Spa and Studio. Six treatments rooms, including two outdoors, designed with state-of-the-art equipment and most up-to-date beauty, health and wellness treatments.

During their stay, guests will enjoy The Diamond Tour. Johannesburg is as famous for diamonds as Milan is for fashion. Whether a serious buyer, or simply an admirer, there is not better place to view some of the world’s finest gems.

Overnight at The Saxon Hotel on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Day Two

Following a sumptuous breakfast, get astride your Rental Harley-Davidson and depart on your exclusive Harley On Safari experience. Harley bikes will be delivered to the Saxon Hotel.

Your exclusive guide, with you for the duration of the trip, will lead you along the route to your next destination – Camp Jabulani. Excellent quality roads, beautiful scenery and a delicious lunch en-route are guaranteed. Bikes are parked at Hoedspruit Airport, and Camp Jabulani will facilitate the 20 minute road transfer to the luxury camp.

Camp Jabulani represents the epitome of style, luxury, gastronomic excellence and warm hospitality. The camp was conceptualized to support and sustain thirteen elephants who found themselves in the care of wildlife visionary, Lente Roode.

The intimate camp environment is designed open-plan to blend seamlessly with the surrounding bush. Facilities include an open air spa, lounge, dining room and shaded wooden deck overlooking a dry river-bed.

Each of the 6 ultra luxurious suites has a private plunge pool and deck area. Within the suite is a lounge area with fireplace; a free standing stone bath tub and double vanity; a glass enclosed shower overlooking the bush, and a separate WC. Facilities include direct dial telephones; fully stocked mini bars; air conditioning and a safe for valuables.

Spend the next 3 nights in the company of the first class team of staff whose sole purpose is to ensure that their guests’ every need is met – in style.

Days will be spent on elephant back, during early morning and late afternoon safaris; on game drives with an experienced and entertaining ranger (viewing Africa’s Big Five, and much more); in the open-air spa facility; or simply around the private plunge pool overlooking the bush and a dry river bed.

A visit will also be arranged to the world-renowned Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre to view cheetah, and other endangered species. Orphaned and injured animals are also brought to the Centre for rehabilitation. This is an experience guaranteed to stir the conservationist within. A hot air balloon ride is the remarkable way to start the day. Experience the magic of lighterthan-air flight over the private reserve.

Meet before sunrise and enjoy a piping-hot coffee while you watch your eight-storey balloon being inflated and prepared for flight.

After a safety briefing you become airborne in time to witness the sunrise. A change in altitude in search of a favourable wind which enables a gentle drift over the landscape. Whilst game viewing cannot be guaranteed, on most flights giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, nyala, impala, bushbuck, waterbuck, duiker and warthog are seen. Rhino, buffalo, elephant and lion are more difficult to find, but there is always a good chance.

Day Five

Guests and Harleys depart from Camp Jabulani in the direction of the majestic Drakensburg Mountain Range. (Visit their website)

From the Lowveld (250 metres above sea level), the scenic route winds upwards to higher than 1800m above sea level. It is here that one will find Walkerson’s Hotel – nestled within South Africa’s Trout Fishing highlands.

Walkerson’s Hotel is the finest boutique hotel in the Dullstroom area, offering guests warm hospitality and fine experiences that will always be remembered. Being a boutique hotel, there are only 24 beautifully appointed rooms consisting of the Highland Suite (1); the Manor Suite (1), and Lakeside Suites (22). Rooms are romantic and refined, each with an en-suite bathroom, a lake view, private patio, fireplaces, a well-stocked mini-bar, television, telephone and wall safe. All rooms are individually decorated.

Facilities include a wellness centre and gym; an equestrian centre; swimming pool, awardwinning wine cellar; an 800ha private estate; 14 dams and lakes (stocked with rainbow trout); 4km of river frontage; walking and hiking trails. Activities include fine dining; waking and hiking; massage treatments; horse riding; fly fishing and picnicking. Overnight Walkerson’s Hotel on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

We have just gotten back to Washington, and want to thank you for being so wonderful. You planned a comprehensive and exquisite trip for us, and went out of your way making sure that our every need and desire was met. What a personal way to learn about your country. Your knowledge and planning was flawless-never could we have had this experience without you. Thanks to you both, and to Tertius, too, who made our Cape Town to Joburg route also marvelous.

May we thank you for organising a fantastic weekend at the Victoria Falls. The Thorntree Lodge was a wonderful location with elephants and hippos visiting frequently. We managed a sunset cruise, a helicopter ride, a falls tour and Walking with Lions - a truly amazing experience.

We will be in contact for help with more weekend trips and will definitely recommend you to our colleagues visiting South Africa.
